The objective of the project is to show everyday life in Lodz during the period of industrial transformation in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It includes extensive, interdisciplinary research using the multilingual press from Lodz (Polish, German, Yiddish and Russian). The issues are focused on, among other things, unemployment, trade, economics, infrastructure, cultural and political life. This approach will allow not only to document and analyse the social and living conditions of the inhabitants, but also take into account the political situation in which the inhabitants of Lodz lived in the years 1863-1918.

The project will make it possible to show the multicultural heritage of old Lodz and the role of this heritage in the cultural and social life of the modern city. The elaboration of a four-volume anthology and an online publication, which will include critically analysed texts, taking into account their literary, historical, social and political context will constitute the project result
